BIZARRE PROBLEM - uploading .php3 files - my PHP is stripped from the code...

I am using DW 4, and saving my search page as .php3. When I upload it to my host (using ASCII) the PHP code is actually STRIPPED from the source code!?!?!?!???

I am really not sure what is going on... I didn't notice at first, except that the file size is not the same as the file on my HD... so I 'viewed source' of the page that I just uploaded - and the entire PHP is gone! (It was before each of the search forms) I tried using a 'trick' to fool Dreamweaver to display the color-coding in 'code' view, but that seemed to work fine until I noticed that the php was missing from my updated page (I don't actually know if the 'trick' had anything to do with this anomaly or not, but I took it out anyway)...

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? or why this might be happening???

Is this something that has happened to anyone (?) before? Or am I the lucky first? Or am I doing something incredibly silly???

Any help would be appreciated, and oh yeah, I AM sure that the code is in my document that I uploaded....

by view source, do you mean on the www page?

if so then obviously you wont see the PHP code because PHP is parsed PRE display by the server so your client would NEVER see PHP code if the page was done properly (ie, all the propper PHP tags)

Yes, I viewed source of the page via IE... and, now that you say that it makes sense that I wouldn't see the PHP code that way, but should the file size on the server still differ from the one on my HD (with the PHP code)??? I don't mean to be dense, I just am struggling here. 😕

file sizes should be identical, that is correct

and no worries, we all gotta learn sometime 😉
