But then, if the background is a plain colour, then why use a JPEG?
<span style="padding-right:100px;background-color:red;">&nbsp;</span>100 red<br>
<span style="padding-right:200px;background-color:green;">&nbsp;</span>200 green<br>
<span style="padding-right:20px;background-color:blue;">&nbsp;</span>20 blue<br>
<span style="padding-right:3px;background-color:black;">&nbsp;</span>3 black<br>
(and the &nbsp;s are there only to keep IE happy - it should work without them, but on IE it doesn't). That's just an off-the-cuff thing - with a bit more planning it might start looking acceptable 🙂
