I need a php/mysql based forum for my site. The trick is that I want to modify it to make it protal/content management like. I thought this would be easy to do with PHPBB which I started doing. I'm not well versed in php, but I can write some scripts. I did write a script to select the 10 newest topics from each forum in a single category and to store those in order as a string to replace in a template. I was happy with all this until I tried to fit it into PHPBB. Then I read about the history of PHPBB, and that along with what seems to be an effort to restrict modifying PHPBB now, I've started to look for something else to use.
I was wondering if any of you could suggest a php forum board that is mysql based, that I could use and be a little easier to modify, and something that is secure?
