Navigating sequentially through numbered pages

I promise I searched for this because I have seen something similar in the past.

Suppose I have a set of pages like the following:

...
www.mydomain.com/files/35.html
www.mydomain.com/files/36.html
www.mydomain.com/files/37.html
...

and I want to have navigation that allows the user to click back/forward sequentially through the pages and up (up would go to the index.html file at www.mydomain.com/files/). I'd rather not use js for accessibility reasons, etc.

Also, how can a safegaurd be implemented so that the script will know whether or not a page exists and respond accordingly?

Well, the page "number", as it were, could be represented by:

$pagenum=(int) (str_replace(".html", "", $_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME']));

$next=$pagenum+1;

$last=$pagenum-1;

echo "Next: $next, Last: $last, this one is $pagenum";

I'm sure you can create links from that ...

As to your other ??, how about using [man]file_exists/man?
