utilizing MySQL data

Hello,
I am trying to add voice greetings on my personals site. I've got most of it to work but can't make the voice file show with the profile.

When a user uploads a voice file, the file name gets saved as a text field in MySQL. My question is: How can I extract the text field information from MySQL, add the .wav extension, and create a link to the appropriate audio file?
I am running PHP 4, apache, and Windows server 2003. Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

hi,

I have never done that but as far as I was told, you better store binary data in blobs (instead of text fields). these are usually manipulated by special functions (not sql inserts etc), look it up in your database functions section at www.php.net.

I'm not sure how to do that, is there any way you could explain that process a little more for me?

Also, When a user uploads a voice file, the only thing that is saved is MySQL is the file name. The voice file itself goes to a seperate directory. So I'd like to be able to take the filename and insert it into a link command that links the actual file wit hthe person's profile.
