Php 5

I know this has probably been asked already...but will we get a PHP5-only board. I've played with it a little and so far think it could be great...so a place to discuss some of the details would be a good way to share experiences 🙂

Have you been over to the "feedback" forum to ask?

I think that one thing that would be difficult about this is that there will come a time when PHP is pretty much just PHP5, and then it won't make much sense to have a seperate category. If they'd made a PHP4 category back in '99 or so, would they have had to do some major moving of db info to reflect the fact that PHP is now pretty much all about version 4?

I do think it's a good basic idea, though.

Perhaps we should have a sub forum called "bleeding (or cutting) edge" or "new releases" or somesuch...I gotta figure with PHP's growth and the enthusiasm of the developers, there will come a PHP 6 some day ....

That time shouldnt be too far away either. But maybe a PHP5 forum now for the early birds wouldnt be so bad, and later on just merge it into an existing forum.

how about just a "PHP-DEV" or "PHP-BETA" forum... and the description could make it clear....

"This forum is for those 'power users' who insist on having things before everyone else, or just love having new features and bugs that come with having the most up-to-date version of software regardless of if its been deemed stable or not... -- IE: not for the faint of heart" :p

I think he was referring when PHP 5 just came out because there were a few then RC1 i cant see any.
