Best way to mirror something

Sorry if I don't explain this proper, just say if you don't understand, anyway.

I'm creating a PHP and mySQL webpage, but I have to mirror some content, which I'll explain now.

Let's say I have a 'match report' where you can also download the statistics with the article (linked below the match report). I want to mirror this article and the link to the statistics somewhere else than the original location. So if I update the article from either the orginal one or the mirrors it will update them all, same goes for deleting it.

What is the best way of going about doing this? To add a mirror I was thinking the best way would be to select an exisitng article from the database using a combobox, but then if I delete or update any of them it won't automatically do the same with the others, if you know what I mean (I'm guessing even with the article having the same ID).

in the sql, why not have 2 fields. download_location1 and downloadlocation2

Just have the update page update both those fields. As you were to add a new file, use each field for mirrors.

ie "insert into yourtable (download_location1, download_location2) VALUES ('$location1', '$location2')";

$location1 and 2 being defined for your form.

Its the content Im worried about as well... also I dunno how many mirrors there will be, so it can be a random amount. There are many categories it can be added under you see.

When a mirror is edited I want everything related to it to change to the exact same. So if a mirror is deleted I want that and the mirrors/original to be removed.

Not sure If that is explaining well enough... dunno what other way to say it.

i see what your getting at. your going to need a delete query from each page where the option is there to delete it. Or create a page include for that and use a variable each time you want to option to do so. Deleting and updating from multiple areas is just as easy as well.

Can you paste some examples of what your exactly trying to do?

Well, you have a mirrors table with all the possible mirror sites and then a link table mirror_line and then have a mirror column in the downloads table. This is a clasic many to many relational set up. The id in the downloads table applies to that download and that download only, this references 1 or more rows in the mirror_line table each of which refers to one and only one row in the mirrors table.

Now, if you wanted to be really clever you could set up a soap server which would allow mirror sites to set their load average on your database. With this information you could set up a load balancing system so mirrors which are experiencing a heavy load would have less chance of being hit.
