php regular expression?

hi, could someone help me come up with an equivalent regular expression for
preg_replace in php as in perl
with
m/\b$term\b/i ?

meaning to match the whole word not partials.

for example, if i want to match "china", then "chinatown" should NOT be matched. however "china is a country" or "this is china." should be matched.

n/m \b works in php too.

of course watch out to escape your search $term with
preg_quote()...
so every character that would have a special meaning in a pcre will be escaped....
