How can I hide the password on the login page. Now both my login and password are visible. But everything entered in the password box should be replaced by ***.

You should set the input element to type="password"
Of course, this just hides the password as it is being entered, there isnt really much more secure.

I know it doesn't add any security, but a login page that shows the entered password looks really crappy.
