thumbnail from animated gif

hi,
i need a thumbnail of animated gif. i tried to do it with GD library, but it's not posible to modify gif after gd 1.5
i dont know how to do it.
i dont know if it could be possible on php.
¿do you know how can i do it?
¿how about do it by shell script on linux?

I'm pretty sure you'd be able to do it with ImageMagick from the command line. It may be a little tricky, I've never worked with animated gifs in image magick but I know it can handle them.
You may find you'll have to take the gif appart shrink each frame seperately and then rebuild it 🙁
