Multiple Recipetants to mail()

If I wanted to e-mail more than one person with mail(), could I do either:

$to = "myemail_1@myhost_1.tld, myemail_2@myhost_2.tld" and so on or:

$to = "<myemail_1@myhost_1.tld><myemail_2@myhost_2.tld>" and then send in mail()?

or would I have to creat a header for BC: [e-mail] ?

if the latter, can you have headers for BCC: , BCCC: BCCCC: and so on?

from the manual:

mail() automatically mails the message specified in message to the receiver specified in to. Multiple recipients can be specified by putting a comma between each address in to.
