I have been asked to update the ecommerce portion of our web site at work. The new ecommerce web pages will use Mhash as a checksum for protection. The problem is that the PHP script server on our local Linux computer does not recognize the Mhash function.
I am a complete and utter ignorant ignoramus when it comes to configuring Linux and/or PHP. My understanding of Linux is limited to the commands cd, ls, rm, and possibly make. I do not know how to install software, get or set environment variables, or know how to configure a piece of software to make it work. I am ashamed to say that I am a Windows User. However, the task has fallen onto me to make this work.
What I need is step-by-step directions on how to install any needed software, change any necessary environment variables, and change any existing software's configuration. Please be as explicit as possible. Treat me like you were talking to someone who doesn't know the difference between the left and right mouse buttons. If you need to know a piece of information in order to be able to answer my question, then you will have to tell me how to get that information.
