how can i make it so that when someone presses the back button to correct something on the form the stuff they typed in is still there?

I don't think there is a way to do this with PHP. You could have all the variables set in cookies or a session but hitting the back button does not reload the page, it loads the cached page, so neither of those methods would work.

If anyone knows of a way, please share! 🙂

I'm a noob also, but I think this can be done. You'd just have to make the page reload...

I think he could make a button that says "back" on it, but it literally is not a back button, its merely a redirect.

You'd use $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']; to detect where the user came from then redirect them to the previous page they went to. (from a browser history standpoint they are not going back, but it'll do the trick.)

Then just post the submitted data on the page they came from if the $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']; came from your back buttton page.

That JS method doesn't cause the browser to redownload does it?

If you use JS to go back you might want to put some sort of "no cache" script into the previous page.
