Compiling PHP Classes?

Hi guys,

Was just wondering if there is any possible way to compile a PHP class (such as 3rd party software?) or perhaps any way to simply hide the PHP source code in a number of classes/scripts or am I going to be forced to use Java classes? If so, will PHP handle compiled Java classes ok if anyone knows?
