simple mysql and forms question

I have a basic general question really.

I have a form that enters correctly into a mysl table. It correctly enters back into a change profile form, t on submit it updates the required changes but wipes the two fields that are drop down select menus. How could this be?? Any ideas?

And any ideas on if its possible when repopulating a form from mysql to make the drop down select menus display the prper value instead of the original default??

Any advice or ideas in passing would be appreciated?

mmm it seems update query is deleting content of the checkboxes field too.
