MySQL Warnings?! help!

i made my own community board the probleem is i get error when i join new i join new topic.... i get :

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/virtual/site45/fst/var/www/html/cnt.php on line 213

and this is on Line 213 on file cnt.php :

$count = mysql_num_rows($sql_query);

oke what i did wrong?

the $sql_query doesn't hold a valid resource meaning your mysql_query failed. Try echoing out the mysql_error, and the query to see what the problems might be.

your query is failing. try echoing the query before running to make sure it is valid SQL. use mysql_error() to see what the actually syntax error is.

It will help you fix it.

For example:

$query = mysql_query("SELECT `column` FROM `tablename`")
	OR die(mysql_error()); //for debugging
$count = mysql_num_rows($query);
