mysql_connect

Hey there, all.

I've got this website that I've made, and i was wondering, is there any way to keep the mysql connection open between PHP pages?

I only ask because it says here that the connection is automatically closed, but my website's saying "cannot connect: too many connections."

So, in conclusion: Is this error my fault?

Are you using mysql_connect or mysql_pconnect?

if you're using pconnect, I recommend you use plain old connect instead.

I'm 90% sure that I used mysql_connect() but I suppose that my hand could have strayed while I typed the _ and also typed a P in the same keystroke. 🙂

This means that I'm going to have to check my scripts, doesn't it?

How would I close one of these persistant connections, if it turned out that I had accidentally created one?

The persistant connections will close when the apache child process holding it open is killed / harvested by the parent process or the connection times out.

Easiest way is to just restart apache.
