i have a text field in my database that stores a food menu along with prices, it contains several lines of text as a menu would normally, however when i try to output the menu in a table, there are no space and no lines like this:

this text has been entered via an imput text area to the database and when it was input there were spaces but the databse seems to take these out, how can i make sure it is displayed with spaces and new lines?
