Thanks for that. It oughtta get done.
In the EL, I pick based on subject lines. In General, Coding, and Newbies, I pick based on the number of posts, then the subject line ... IOW, if something's already got a half dozen posts to it, it's not so likely I need to be there. I often grab the 0 count threads just to see what's up; a lot of times it's possible to get something started that way; but, if it's too weird, I'll probably stay away.
There are some threads that probably deserve to be left hanging until they are dead though, and it may be a disservice to the community for anyone (like me, for instance) to pick them up... I wonder, should we make up a quick answer, say, "LHTD" that links to something like
"Your post has been selected to be Left Hanging 'Til Dead because of a Dumb Subject Line, poorly formatted code, you are asking for handouts, or you've shotgunned this post into multiple forums. Take a look at the FAQ's and guidelines, and then try posting again ... you're much more likely to get the answers you crave 😉"
If we could get the regulars to agree to do something like that, and not touch it, would we improve things around here, or give the board a "bad rep" ... ??
