PHP has stopped reading variables from URL

I have the following URL on a webpage...

"http://www.something.com/viewcar?lotnumber=38"

...but when I ask PHP to print the lotnumber on the screen, it declares that there is no $lotnumber variable.

Can anyone help with this?

PS- the exact same script works perfectly on other computers and even on other online servers.

Actually... I'm 99% sure that this is a bug with the version of PHP that I've installed.

Try looking at the FAQ in the Newbies' forum - Question One. And then look again at the PHP manual's section on getting submitted data from forms.

Also, try using $_GET['lotnumber']. You've probably got register_globals switched off.

EDIT: Thats what the newbie faq says. Now I've read it.
