wap & cell phone project

does anyone have experience with programming sites for cell phones/ wap. i need some basic info like:

• characteristics of phones [screen size, colors, images supported, music supported, can run java games,...]

• info on HTTP header sent by particular phones

• etc.

can anyone send me a list/documentation, please?

i appreciate if you can reply here or PM me with your existing projects.

From the book Professional PHP4 from apress/wrox chapter 16 is a wap case study. you can download the code from the book here
unfortunately you wont have the book to read the explanations, but it is good code written by pros in php who have been working with it for years.

Nokia has spec sheets for all its phones on their website. I wouldn't be suprised if all the major phone manufacturers do.

The tricky thing is companies that rebadge phones. Most US phone companys (AT&T, Bell, etc) buy Sagem phones and remodel them, and turn certain features on and off, so actually finding the spec of what the users have is kinda tricky.

"Beginning WAP, WML, and WMLScript" from Wrox Press is a good book for learning WAP stuff.

And I'm not just saying that coz I'm in it..

Just go to www.w3schools.com They have got an excellent tutorial on how to build your own WAP site.
