Overriding posting of files in HTML

Any idea on how to retrive just the path entered into a file field of an HTML form without HTML uploading the file..?

Sure, just don't upload it. But grabbing the path I don't think you can do - I think you could only grab the temp name. I could be wrong on this however, but I think I messed with something similar to what you are looking for awhile back.
