good xml parser

hello,

im looking for a good xml parser.

but i want to access the xml-tree after parsing like that:

root.child[0].child[3].attribute[1]

root.child["childnode"].child[3].value

does something like that exist?
is it possible?

Did you read the user notes? There's some (read: a lot of) code there that might be of use. Remember that expat is pretty much the de facto standard stream-based XML parser the way Apache is the de facto standard web server. It sounds like you want a document-based parser. See: DOM XML (thought that is experimental).

yes i read the notes. those parsers are not bad, but still not what i need.

expat sounds cool. is there a php binding?

DOM sounds also cool. but the server has php 4.2. and no chance to upgrade.

Expat is a nonvalidating XML parser that, by itself, provides a SAX interface.

The way you want appears to be by a DOM interface.
The Gnome XML Parser could be for you.

Though the way you want to use it just wont work with your current version of PHP, as far as I can see.

thanks. yep, seems there are lots of ways which i cant use with that php version.

also the simplexml extensions looks just what i am looking for, isnt enabled on my server.

any other solutions?
