I am using Windows XP (boo, hiss) with Apache for the webserver and have a question regarding email. What is the best program to use for my mail server? I know that IIS will work with Windows XP Professional, but I am using Windows XP Home edition. What can I download and install that will allow email to work?

More seriously, a couple things. You need an MTA (SMTP server), and IIS isn't one, whether you're running XPH or XPP. Microsoft's SMTP server is Exchange, and you might be able to trade a good used car for it ...
You might Google for something ... or, better yet (probably more trustworthy), try searching at www.sourceforge.net ... their search form is a POSTed one, so I can't give you the search URL, but I got a few good looking results using the string "windows smtp server" and checking "require all words" ...
