phpmyadmin access denied

Good morning,

I have been running php4.2.3 with phpmyadmin for nearly 7 months now with no problem. Apache 1.3.27.

This morning when I tried to bring up phpmyadmin I get access denied;

Error

MySQL said:

Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

Note:...my webpages run fine....I just get the error when trying to run phpmyadmin...but now when I try to connet to the mysql database...I get

Warning: Access denied for user: 'root@127.0.0.1' (Using password: NO) in c:\phpdev5\www\GotLeague\includes\db.php on line 9
Couldn't connect to server

holy!

I am far from being an expert in this area. The only thing I did was take an auto update from microsoft this morning. I will see if I can back this out. Also I tried using MYSQL Control Center and it abends in mysqlcc.exe.

Any ideas?

It might be that the ms 'fix' blocked the port...check to see if the port is open..

Also check to see if the mysql is running

Hey thanks for responding. How does one check to see if the port is open? Sorry for such a basic ?..
