loop set update question

hello everybody,

i have an idea, but i'm having problems actually putting the logic together.

What i want to do it sort the results of my database (variable results) and then allot point values (per the noted equation) and then resubmit back up to the databse in the appropriate field (prix_id)

here is the loop to display, but how would i then send back to the database in the appropriate field.....

would i use this to update somehow?

if($submit){
$sql = "UPDATE table SET prix_id='$prix_id',one_points='$mydataonepoints' WHERE prix_id='$prix_id'";
$result=mysql_query($sql);

an update would look more like...

UPDATE SET column=value WHERE id=someid

so in your example...

UPDATE table SET one_points='$mydataonepoints' WHERE prix_id='$prix_id'

this basically equates to:

scan table for any prix_id that equals $prix_id, then set that rows column named one_points to $mydataonepoints

here is the latest, but it's still not updating properly....it displays all the correct variables, but i cannot get it to update the database.

troubleshoot using

$result = mysql_query($query) or die('error: '. mysql_error());

excellent! i think i figure it out but it only sends the first one.....i need to loop all the results and send them accordingly.

are you actually entering anything into the form from the first page or does it just generate a form, then you "approve" it.... hard to tell what its doing w/o seeing it... but judging by the form it seems you would only be passing ONE users data to the 2nd page to be updated....
