Storage using Ethernet

At work we're getting quite short on storage space. Has anyone had any experience of storage that is accessed via ethernet, like this ?

I remember posting about a external 1 terabyte drive as well, which are just over 1000 USD. We do a lot of netwroking here over ethernet, considering most of our storage is done on our SAN. Though, I realize you're probably not looking for nearly that much storage. What kind of storage are you looking for? Just a small network server? How much storage? How much throughput is going be used?

For high throughput, the solid state drives look promising

My plan is to buy the networked disc that I posted the link to earlier. I just wondered what experience people had (not necessarily with that model, but with SAN in general). Would you advise it? Fast? slow? (again, in general; I know that it will differ from appliance to appliance)
