Can you translate PERL to PHP?

Ok I've been having a boatload of problems trying to get my script to do what I want it to do. That is to log in, get a cookie, and retain that to go to a different URL. I still can't get it, but I was given this code (it's PERL) that works. Can you figure out what it would be in PHP? It's fine if cURL is used. Thanks.

$browser = LWP::UserAgent->new;
$browser->cookie_jar({});

$url = "http://(url)";
$response = $browser->get( $url );

$url2 = "http://(url)";
$response2 = $browser->get( $url2 );

$html = $response2->content;

If the Perl code works, why not just use the Perl code?

Well my host supports CGI/PERL, but I can't figure out how to get the script working :p. Not even a simple hello world. I'll have to work on that.

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible MSIE 5.0)");
$response = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);

then do the same for url2 and subsequent url's as needed.
that is a basic curl session for you.

How do you do multiple cURL sessions with the same cookie though?

just put cookiefile and cookiejar to the same file as the previous session. thats where the cookies will be stored.
