What's best: one big query or multiple small query ?

I've got a page that's fill with content from a database.

I've make multiple small query to get content when i need it on the page.

Is it more effective to create one big query, put all data in one big array then use content when i need?

My page size will surely drop and i'll do just one big connection with the database so can someone who work with big database can tell me...

Generally, one big query. however, depending on your database engine and the types of queries, you may find many small ones are more efficient.

The only way to tell is to write both and time them.
