DESC in PHP

I have a table with players statistics. when querying the table, it works fine until players reach double digits. It then skips the double digit players and only includes the single digit players.

Why is this?

Related info:

1. I have a limit of the 5 highest scorers using LIMIT 5.
2. Only the two top scorers have hit double digits and they are not being queried.

1. what data type is the field these one and two digit numbers are in?
2. what are the numbers that show up and dont show up.

it could be a problem with the data type of the field, make sure it is a numeric type, and not a varchar or something.
