Selecting UNIQUE but counting?

Alright, I was wondering how and if its possible to get only the unique values out of a table, but also count the number each one occurs... ok... maybe better if I gave an example.

Name|Password|Issue|Date
1234 1234 691 2004-5-20
2232 2323 678 2004-5-20
2341 1234 678 2004-5-20
2111 1112 678 2004-5-20

Ok so lets say i want to get all the 678s and also the 691s, I want to know how many happened on the said date... So how many 691s happened today? as well as 678s... etc..? I know how to grab unique, and I am currently browsing the mysql manual.. any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Just a group by statement should cover it

SELECT issue, count(*)
FROM table
WHERE date = '2004-05-20'
GROUP BY issue

yeah I actually found that exact one on mysql's website, I hate navigating that site though... ah well, Was going to just post and say I got it working hehe... now a bit more to go.
