save pdf to jpeg

Hi,
I was wondering if its possible and if so how its possible to save a one page pdf to jpeg to generate thumbnails of a downloadable pdf.
Does anybody know how to do this?

Open it in Adobe and grab a screen shot is the best that i can think of. Sorry.

yeah, open in either Photoshop or Fireworks (and possible some other image editors) and press the "Print Screen" keyboard button, then in the image editor choose "File->new" and you'll see that the dimensions for the new file automatically are set to your screen dimensions (ie, typically 800x600 or 1024x768). Then once you've created the new blank file of that size, just choose "edit->paste" and you've got your screencapture.

the key thing is how to get pdf data rasterized to jpeg just using PHP - till now I didnt find anything about doing this. maybe anybody of you know a solution?

A simple search on google conjured up this;

You can run this from the windows command line - therefore use PHP to execute it.

ok, but I dont have a windows server - I am using a linux machine, so this wont work 🙁 The question was, to have a php class or something which just uses apache modules.
