[Resolved] Uploading photos (where is the extension??)

Hi

Iwould like to know how to record the image extension of an uploaded fiile?

I need to upload photos and want to give a unique name to each photo, this also remove any
blank space between the photo name or any character that html can modify.

I have a field named photo and i store just the name of the photo on database.

my attempt is using time + ip adress + uploaded image type(jpg, gif, png)

here it is :

$arq_name = time().$REMOTE_HOST.".".$_FILES['photo']['type'];

But it is not recording the image extension!!!!!!!!

How can i concatenate the image extension?????

use [man]pathinfo[/man]

$path_parts = pathinfo($_FILES['photo']['name'];
$ext = $path_parts['extension'];
$arq_name = time().$REMOTE_HOST.".".$_FILES['photo']['type'] . $ext;
