email - bcc help

Hi, I'm working on a topsite and there was a hack provided to the script that automatically sends emails to the new member and to the site admin. Here's a part of the code:

if ($new_member == "yes" AND $auto_validation == "yes") { 
        $msg.= "Thank you for your submission to $top_name, please save the below info for future reference.\n\n"; 
        // my customized message
        $msg.= "\n"; 
        mail($email,"Site Submitted To $top_name!",$msg,"From: $admin_email\nReply-To: $admin_email\nBcc: $admin_email");    

     }

The email is sent to the new member but somehow the Bcc to the admin doesn't work.
Please help, i posted this question to the original coder but there was no reply mabye b/c it's been a year since his last post. 😕 thanks

try putting \r\n between all the headers instead of the \n.

thanks for the quick reply, here's what i changed

 mail($email,"Site Submitted To $top_name!",$msg,"From: $admin_email\r\nReply-To: $admin_email\r\nBcc: $admin_email");

is that what i was supposed to do? it didn't send to the admin email but the new member email was sent right away.

yes that is what i meant. I tested the same code on my server and I got both emails. see if this works for you.

i used your code but no emails were sent and then i changed $user to $email and got the new member email confirmation but still no bcc . maybe i should give it some time for the admin email to kick in? previously, when i disabled the auto validation the email to admin was sent but it took a while...here's the code

mail("","Site Submitted To $top_name!",$msg,"From: $admin_email\r\nReply-To: $admin_email\r\nBcc: $admin_email,$email");

id talk to your server admin. maybe there is a problem with either their mail server or sending from php. the original code you had should work immediately.

btw is there a way to just send the email to 2 recipients(new member and admin), it doesn't have to be bcc.

you can try cc but the user would be able to see the admin got it also, or try two separate mail calls, one right after the other.

this is using cc:

 mail($email,"Site Submitted To $top_name!",$msg,"From: $admin_email\r\nReply-To: $admin_email\r\ncc: $admin_email");  

and this, i just duplicated the line:

mail($email,"Site Submitted To $top_name!",$msg,"From: $admin_email\r\nReply-To: $admin_email\r\n"); 
		 mail($admin_email,"Site Submitted To $top_name!",$msg,"From: $admin_email\r\nReply-To: $admin_email\r\n");

...i hope it isn't cause i'm having the same prob with both

yeah those would be right.
i guess i have 2 questions.
1. are you sure $admin_email is set when you send the mail?
2. are you on a windows server?

i have seen people post a lot on the forum about having problems with sending more than 1 email on a windows server.

maybe that's it! i'm not sure what kind of server i'm on...sorry i'm such a newbie. my host is 1and1 and i have the free professional package. i tried to search around my account but couldn't find any info...i'll contact them to see. thanks drew!
