[Resolved] MySQL Regex

Anyone got any ideas on optimizing this MySQL regex?

.*a.*b?.*|.*a?.*b.*|.*b.*a?.*|.*b?.*a.*

I'm sure I don't need quite so much alternation but I can't think how to reduce it 🙁
