Right now it only is displaying one result. It stops after it gets the first result. How can I loop this so that

foreach($converted as $c) {
echo "The Features for this property are ".$c." ";
}

Loops for every match of currCode?

Is $converted really an array, and does it really have more than one member?

Yes I believe so.

If I echo $features_set I get the results on Array.

I believe it is an array with more than one member.

Well, for an array, use var_dump() or print_r() instead of echo(), and then you can know 😉

So, can I asume that because I only see [0] and no [1], [2] etc that their is only one member in the array?

If so, I want to take the string from $row[features] and get every set of three from the string A09,B04,B05,C04 etc into an Array.

Basically, I am trying to crossreference the sets of three to my query.

Lemme see if I've got this straight:

You have some sort of form where a user can select N amount of features.
Your code is receiving these in an array called $row[features].
You are then assigning them to the first index of the $features_set array.
You then implode, and then explode this data (this is where your code appears to have some logic errors, but I might not be seeing the whole picture correctly).
You then do splits to get a 3-string character.

Now, this is where I get confused. Do me a favor, print_r() the $row[] array. I want to see what is in it. Also, are you in some sort of loop with the $row array? It looks like you are, but I can't see it in your code.

Ok...here is the explanation.

I am working with a database that I didnt design. The database is for real estate. The amenities for a property are give a three digit code. For example, if the home is a ranch property...it may have a code of A09.

All the codes that make up all the ammenities are in one field and listed together in a long string.

So, the ammenitites for a propert are listing in the database field $row[features] and output like this:
A09B04B05C04C06D01E05F01

Ok...so....first off...I think this is a terrible way to list the ammenities....but....this is what they did.

Now....how do you know what A09 really is? Well, they have deviced another table in the database that has two columns. One column is the 'code' and the other is 'long_name'. So if you find A09 in the code column the long name equals 'Ranch'.

What I need to do (and this has been hard for me to understand) is....

1) Take the results of $row[features] ----> this isnt an issue
2) Somehow split it into groups of three
3) Cross reference each group of three with the second table
4) Get the 'long_name' result and display it.

So, all in all....I need to decifer what the codes mean according to the second table.

I hope I explained my dilemma well. It is confusing for a newbie to figure this out. I appreciate all the help I can get.

My above code seems to be going in the right direction....but it doesnt get any further than the first set of three.

Well, then, there you have it. Something like:

Dude, I feel bad for ya. I'd really look at puttng this data in a separate table, make your life a lot easier. But anyway:

I don't think you need to do the $currCode stuff you've got going on. I think if you do a while($key,$code) = @each($split)) loop and then run each query, or just run one query like "Select * from table where code in (implode(',',$split))"...

line 23 = $mysql_query($qry);

Dont see what is wrong!

Well, heres the thing.

The letters mean things. A's are style of home B's garages, so on and so on.

Now, is there anyway I can seperate them and place it in some sort of variable so I can control where the output goes on the page?

For example
All the A's = $style_variable

Now I can place $style_variable where I want the style of home to show up...and so on.

First, this:

Also, to make it a bit easier, I would order the query based on the code, getting all the As, Bs, together. Then you could just output the values like above, except check the first character and change the caption from $style_variable to $style_variable. Of course, only change it if the current one doesn't match the previous one.

Ok, again...I am getting closer....

The above code places each group of three into an array. Now, if I echo $hidden[1] I get just the value for the 1st member of the array. The MAJOR problem is that I need to group them by the letter.

If I print_r and get the code for each array (by changing $hidden[]=$row2[long_name]; to $hidden[]=$row2

Notice that array members 20 through 26 start with the letter P. These need to be grouped together...as they all represent a group of ammenities. So, I guess I need to know if it is possible to group the array members by first letter?

If you use substr($row2,1) that will get you the letter value. Then, you could just compare this to a translation function you write ($ammenityType['A'] = 'Garage', that sort of idea).
