[Resolved] what type of join to use...?

Hey,
I have two tables: cd_genre, and products.
both have ID columns and cd_genre has id, cdid, col2, and col3.
Products has id, colN etc.

I want to join the two tables making products.id=cd_genre.cdid so the information will be all the info from products with col2 and col3

Try using a "LEFT JOIN"

Hey yeah i just got it as you replied

SELECT *
FROM cd_genre
LEFT OUTER JOIN products ON ( cd_genre.cdid = products.id )
WHERE etc

it was actually what I tried before but I realized when I moved database info (which is why im recoding) i got the cdid values from the old table instead of the old table. hence it couldn't match up cdid and id to get the values.
