How to retain dropdown list and radio value after click back button

Anyone can help?

What I am trying to do is:

I have a dropdown list and 3 radios on the first page. When I clcik on submit button, it will go to another page and display dropdown list and radio values I've chosen on the screen.

But when I click back button to go back to the first page, the values are automatically set back to the default value which are the first value in droopdown list and radio.

I want dropdown list and radio to retain the chosen values when I click back button to the previous. How can I do that?

Well, that wouldn't be a PHP issue (as PHP is server-side and dropdowns are client-side), but it should be easily handled through javascript. You might want to look into a cookie (which you could set via PHP and access via javascript) and change its value based on that. Not exactly sure what you'd look for as an example, though.

If you don't need to go back (and instead go forward, yet to the same page), then you could use said cookie in PHP to output the newly selected option.
