Forms, Actions and Validations

Hi,

I hope I can explain this properly. What I need to do is validate a form using PHP before the "action" of the form is performed. The "action" in my case is a POST to another web site, eg.

I normally use PHP_SELF in the action when I want to validate a form and so this has me stumped.

Please note that I do not want to validate using javascript.

You can only use PHP to validate form values returned to the server.

In your case, you might be able to send the form values to YOUR server. If they are valid, you might be able to send them to the other site like a get

fopen("https://select.worldpay.com/wcc/purchase/?somvalue=1&someothervalue=2");

etc.

But my suggestion would be to use JAVASCRIPT form validation code to validate form values before they are submitted.

Thanks for replying but I don't want to use Javascript, it can be switched off and will then cause me problems.

There must be a way to do this.

3 times: clicked the submit button but nothing happened, so I kept on clicking.

If you REALLY believe your users will switch off Javascript, then you can add this code

<NOSCRIPT>
Sorry this form requires Javascript to be enabled
</NOSCRIPT>

And that's all that will be displayed instead of your form.

Rereading nemoman's post it looks like there's a non-Javascript suggestion there. Me: I'd recommend both. The Javascript for the benefit of the user (if they so choose) and PHP for your benefit ('cos the user might not so choose).
