get php access internet through a proxy

I have a number of scripts that talk directly to the internet, stock quotes being a good example. These all run fine on my hosted web server and when i was directly connected to the internet via my dial up.

I now have broadband (at last!!)and am running my server behind a firewall on a different PC, accessing the internet using a proxy server. Is there anyway that i can point PHP through a proxy when accessing internet based stuff?
