Hi,

I'm new to PHP. I'm creating a site that allows user to upload their images, optimize them, and generate thumbnails.

Any recommendations on a code snippet or a quick tutorial?

Have a google for ImageMagic (unsure of spelling - could be obscure...)

As for GD functions in PHP - there are some great snippets on http://www.php.net/imagecreatetruecolor

Heh. Some nice functions there. PHPhoto (my image processing app) does some similar things. And more. 😉
