Hi,

A client has made a rather strange request and I'm not sure how to implement it into their site... 😕

He wants the following:

A form for members to fill in their name and email address.

When they click "Submit", aall information in the forms is discarded!

Then, a popup comes up (maybe some sort of javascript used here - aaaggghhh, javascript!!! :eek: ) asking for the user to enter their 6 digit membership code (codes range between 000000 and 027000)

Only if the user enters a number between 000000 and 027000 can they enter the next page.

Does that make sense? Seems rather odd to me but that'sd what he asked!

Just wondering how I could go about doing this?

I've no idea why your client should want this, but who the hell cares:

1. The form should have no action whatsoever. It's just empty HTML and does nothing.

2. When the user click on submit, you do a Javascript onclick() and open a pop-up. The pop-up contains a single entry field for the user number and a submit button (this form does have an action - it points back to itself).

3. The validation checks for the correct digit sequence (look up the reg exp yourself, please, and then use preg_match()) and then does:

   if ($number)
   {
   header("Location: targetfile.php");
   }
   
   else
   {
   print "Get lost, sucker!";
   }
