Max File Size Upload

Hi there,
My PHP application often requires hufe files to be uploaded,imported into the system, sometimes the file size goes as high as 3 mb. The PHP.ini file has a directive called
max_file_size_upload = 5 MB

i have changed it to 8 MB, but it does not help.

whenever i try to upload any file above 500 KB, its gives me a 'page not displayed' as if it does not know how to handle any file above 500KB size.

Can anybody shed some light on this issue. Am i doing something incorrect with the syntax of the directive or is there anything else associated to it that i am unaware of ????

In php.ini
What's the max execution time ?
What's the max memory limit?

What browser are you using?

It could be that although you're never exceding your max size limit you're failing on the execution time or, if you're loading this file into memory and playing around with it rather than just copying it somewhere else then you may be tipping over the allowed memory limit. The reason I've asked which browser you're using is because sometimes IE can be really quite anoying (no really, it can 😉) if it doesn't hear any response from the server for a certain amount of time it assumes that the connection has been lost and therefore put's up an error.
