Remove Spaces Before and After String

i have a var sting
i want remove all spaces before and after string
example

$var="(here are some spaces character)book is good(here are some spaces character)";

i want retorn $var="book is good"

in other mean in retorn all spaces charcter in before and after sring will be remove.

what should i do?
