Reading MS-ACCESS-Databeses on Linux

Hello,

I would like to read from MS-ACCESS Databases with PHP Tools; however, I currently work on Linux boxes (and I would not like to pay licence fees to M$ just for this purpose).

Is this possible (e.g. with the Unified ODBC functions); if yes, how should I do this?

The purpose is, I have developed a Website for a non-profit-organisation, running on a Linux server with PHP and MySql. Some data are maintained by the organisation in Access databases. Rather than to export the data and reimport into temporary tables the Access data, I would like to read them directly from the Access DB and update the Mysql Production data.

Any help will be appreciated. (Even an "Impossible" would be a help, as I don't have to search any further on this subject)

Even with the "Unified ODBC FUnctions" I am pretty sure you will need to wrap a driver specific for MS Access on your linux box.

I have had this problem in the past Accessing FairCom C-Tree Databases... No Linux friendly ODBC/JDBC driver... Had to run a win box just to perform the ODBC querys....

BTW ODBC is SLOOOOOOOOOOW
