Welp.. doesnt feel like I've gotten much further on my game.. for anyone who has seen it 🙂

I registered, then I logged in, and it said I was logged in sucessfully, but that was it. I was still on the intro/login screen and there was nowhere to go.

whoops.. sorry i should have mentioned.. make sure you dont have a popup blocker running!! it pops up a new window!!! one million of them! haha joking.. i suppose i can make that an option

As far as functionality goes, it's not bad. I think you need a lot of work on the story, though. I don't know why I'm there, what my main task is going to be, and what my goals are. And why, when I choose to fight a bat, do I not know what to do next?

yeah :/ that's why it's just in the testing mode right now. .It's in no way near a finished product.. but it's at the point right now where people can run around and kill bats if they want :p

I plan on having a great story for it and lots of stuff to do in the game beyond running around and just killing bats. Just have to get the core of the game working fully.

The hardest part so far has been to get a good layout / interface that makes it easy to figure out ( I've been focusing on 800x600, which doesn't give me much room ).

So far the movement and map system are 100% functional.. I have lots of work to do on the combat.. The towns are about 50-75% complete. The stores work, and you can make/buy/sell any items ive added into the database. I know it must be a little hard to jump into without any instruction .. and something that says "this is what you are supposed to be doing".. 🙂

Wow ... you've certainly put some work into the project. The UI is looking pretty cool ... and I guess I'm pretty good at bat fighting? (Did anyone else get him for 3 in the, um, groin?)

As for issues:

In Mozilla, there are no margins on the index page --- text is smashed right up against the browser window edge.
As it is all PHP (which is cool) ... there's a lot of refreshing. Have you considered ways to get more content on the client side? Maybe that's not the point, but I wonder.
BuzzLY has a good point, too; If I'm in a game, I kinda need to know who I am, where I am, what my mission is, and maybe even why. Plus, an explanation of the various icons/buttons, etc would be real cool. Have you heard of overlib? It's JS based, of course, but I think your game would be that much cooler with tool tips....

Just some casual observations .... hey, I guess I killed the bat, anyway... 😃

yeah, ive really considered adding a bunch of javascript enhancements to it.. i mean like you said it IS a lot of refreshing and is going to kill me in the bandwidth department if i ever get around to finishing :p

Like i said before.. all the text / information etc is all incomplete right now.. anything story related.. including descriptions.. monster stats / info etc etc etc are all INCOMPLETE.

Basically it's just a showcase right now of what you can do with a little html and php 🙂 everyone makes flash games etc now.. i want to make a nice old school text / somewhat graphical game.

At the very least, I would have an initial page that loads most of the game -- reusable graphic elements (like the map) for the most part. That way, whenever the player looks at a map, there is no bandwidth issues.
