Hi, I have been reading that you can set the default character set for a specific database. This is great as we are currently on a co-hosted server and need to use the latin5 Turkish characterset or else all of our data is sorted/ordered incorrectly. The problem is that I can't seem to set this value. I logged in to mysql via ssh, ran the commands specified in the manual but I always get a syntax error. I have seen that this is only implemented in 4.1+ but, I read tha manual for 4.0.18 (the version our host is running) and the manual says this is supported and shows the commands. Anyone know how to sort this out? Is there another way to achieve this?
