How to make PHP reciprocal links page

Hi there,

I would like to install a php script as shown in this web site of reciprocal links

http://www.asianspicyrecipes.com/links/index.php

The question is how do I copy the code and modify it to suit my own web site? I have tried to use View/Source and copy the php page into my folder, and save as index.php but Microsoft Frontpage is unable to recognize and open files of type .php

What is the best get around method to add this PHP reciprocal links page to my site? I am very familiar with HTML and use the same method for PHP to replicate and modify the code.

You cannot use view source to view PHP source code...that only works with HTML. If you do view source it will just show what was outputed.

example...think of a really cheap calculater, you do the math problem 2 + 2...and when you put that in what you see is 4, you don't see 2+2.

The same apply's to php, you see what the result is but you cannot see how they got there.

Best bet would to ask the webmaster of that site.

I have contacted the webmaster but it was installed by a friend of his. He is not that technical savvy, I know that.

Is there any other method to get the PHP script just like HTML pages? What about File/Save as the whole page?

You CANNOT under any circumstances view PHP code unless you have the original file! The only reason you can view HTML is because all the code is executed on your own computer....with php it is executed before you see anything.

To add to what ShawnK is saying, you're better off investing your time looking to PHP script repositories because you will not see any PHP code by doing a "view source" with your browser.

Try phpbuilder.com or devshed.com for some code.
