recompile PHP

I have download PHP rpm file

and i want to compile it (or recompile it)

can you please give me the setps to do it

That's a tall order... there are a lot of configuration options.

Do you plan on using it with Apache? MySQL?

--disable-short-tags?
--enable-magic-quotes?

FTP?
aspell?
PDF generation?

I could go on. You need to specify what you plan on doing or better yet, visit php.net and see their manual for the list of options available to you.

Have you gone to the link that laserlight supplied and downloaded the necessary tarball for your OS?
Do you already have Apache, MySQL, and Sybase installed? List out what the paths are to these items.
Do you have root level privileges over your server?

GD support comes in the current releases of PHP so it is not necessary to install those separately.

However, you will need the following:

Do a Google search and download them. Uncompress them and install.

i installed apache and sybase

the i configure PHP so it's support them
using this command

but when i try my script it's not working it's give me an error

You need to specify the paths to your installations in your ./configure line.

For example:

--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql

etc.
