[Resolved] mysql text issue

when im storing text in Mysql it seems to be storing quotes as \' and \"

e.g. "I am _27 years old, 5\'7\", a bit on the cuddly si..."

what i want is "I am _27 years old, 5'7", a bit on the cuddly si..."

any ideas? i know that \ is an escape but why's it there and how do i echo the text ommiting the \ char.

once you pull the text out of the database you can use [man]stripslashes[/man]

i.e.

$row = mysql_fetch_array($result);
echo stripslashes($row['text_field']);
